Any child with special needs age 7 to 16, who is a resident of the state of Texas is eligible for admission to Texas Elks Camp. No child is denied acceptance on the basis of his or her income level, ethnic origin, race, creed, color or religion. There is no fee. Campers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Needs are reviewed on an individual basis.
Parents can complete camp applications beginning in January. Camp applications will be available for download from our website. Please contact Texas Elks Camp Staff with any questions, staff is ready and available to answer any questions! Texas Elks Camp office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Summer 2021 Camp
We are excited about Summer Camp 2021! Summer camp plans have already begun! We can't wait to see all of our returning campers and meet all of our new campers!

Criteria
Potential applicants are screened and assessed on an individual basis according to diagnosis. Campers should be eligible to participate in, and enjoy, a carefully planned camping program for children with special needs. Applicants should have normal bowel and kidney function and control as well as some degree of independence in self help skills, including feeding and dressing themselves. If the above criteria is not met or answers given are found to be false, the child will be sent home.
Elks Camp is not a stationary camp program. Children who attend Elks Camp are accompanied by trained staff for outings to attend area attractions such as bowling, movies, indoor amusement centers and waterparks. The structure of our program may not be the most suitable for applicants that are profoundly challenged in large group settings or over stimulated by a constantly changing environment.

Campers Not Eligible
Children requiring one-on-one attention are not eligible. Also, children with the following diagnoses are not eligible:
Self injurious behavior
Contagious Diseases Insulin Dependent Diabetes |
Osteogenesis Imperfecta
Physically or Sexually Aggressive Toward Peers or Staff Prader Willie Syndrome Seizure episodes within 12 months |
Unable to follow 1-2 step prompts
Receives nutrition enterally Uses a wheelchair for all mobility |

REQUIRED: Health Evaluation Examination Form
For the health and safety of our campers and staff all campers and staff are required to have a Health Evaluation Form completed by a licensed medical examiner. This form can be completed and kept until you are ready to turn in your camper application. This form must be completed within twenty four months of attending Texas Elks Camp.
